Having laid the first seeds of industrialization with the weaving industry in the early periods of the Republic, Kahramanmaraş has reached 6 billion dollars industrial volume and 56 billion liras active size every year with its extraordinary success in industrialization.
Mass production and industrialization that started in the 80’s, especially active economic policies and stability environment in the recent period have accelerated the development process of Kahramanmaraş.
Kahramanmaraş, which has become one of the leading provinces of Turkey with large-scale investments in textile, metal kitchenware, electricity production, paper industry and cement sectors, is among the top 8 cities in Turkey in terms of the largest 1000 industrial enterprises with 26 companies.
Kahramanmaraş, with its 350 exporting companies, has realized an export of 927 million dollars in 2019.
The export of textile sector, which is the locomotive of Kahramanmaraş economy, increased by 1.11% and reached 617 million dollars. The metal goods sector succeeded an increase by 27.24% to 167.2 million dollars, ready-to-wear by 21.30% to 73.7 million dollars, the paper sector to 65.3 million dollars with an increase of 5.93%, and the air conditioning sector to 23 million dollars by 34,77%.
4 Italy, Egypt, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Greece, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh and Morocco are the top export countries. A total export of $ 618 million was realized to these countries in 2019.
The number of companies opened in Kahramanmaraş in 2019 was 726, and the companies that were closed down were recorded as 256. Incentive certificates were issued for the real sector investment of 1.4 billion lira, increasing by 49.2% compared to the previous year in agricultural incentive applications.
Provincial employment decreased 1.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased from 148,905 people to 146,850.
