The peak point of our model and modern district target will be EXPO 2023. We will change and transform Onikisubat even more, and we will raise its brand value to higher levels.”

Onikisubat Mayor Hanefi Mahçiçek, who brought EXPO, one of the international events that attracted the attention of the whole world in recent years, to Kahramanmaraş and Onikisubat in 2023 by writing a great success story, continues the promotion of the project without slowing down. Mayor Mahçiçek, who came together with all segments of the city on the occasion of various programs, also met with high school students at the Career Days and talked about the giant project where the dream turned into reality. Finally, Mayor Mahçiçek met with Martyr Administrative Ateşe Galip Özmen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Martyr Serkan Yılmaz Anatolian High School students. Explaining all the details of the EXPO 2023 Project to the students, Mayor Mahçiçek said that they will increase the brand value of Kahramanmaraş and solve the promotion problem with EXPO 2023.

“WE WILL REACH OUR GOAL WITH INTERNATIONAL WORLD PROJECTS”

President Mahçiçek, who came to the podium after watching the EXPO 2023 video, said; ‘Do you guys like our project? “Isn’t it like a dream?” he began by asking. President Hanefi Mahçiçek continued his speech as follows; “We will now do such projects in Kahramanmaraş. The pavement municipality is over. We will change and transform Kahramanmaraş and carry it to the top of the list of livable countries. We will achieve our goal by modernizing our residential areas on the one hand, establishing new residential areas on the one hand, and bringing such international world projects to our city on the other. For example, it was always said, “Gaziantep is ahead of us this much” or “We are behind Gaziantep”. Look, we got ahead of Gaziantep for the first time with this project, they haven’t won an EXPO yet. If you ask what is EXPO? The new concept in international organizations is EXPOs. In other words, it is to show the beauties, riches and values of the country where it is organized to the whole world. It is not easy to get such international projects. It was done in Antalya before in Turkey, our state spent 2.5 quadrillion dollars. We have not received a penny from the state until today. We did all of them, and we completed some of them with the build-operate model. Our only expectation from you is that you act as a voluntary embassy and work voluntarily in the EXPO field.

“WE NEED TO PROMOTE THIS COUNTRY INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL AREA”

Kahramanmaraş is a beautiful country, it has everything. It has a beautiful nature, the capital of literature. It is at the forefront of developing provinces in Turkey. He used the incentives he received from the state very well. Today, there are more than 500 factories in our city. Our 130 thousand people work. It is also very advanced in terms of industry. It produces 64% of steel goods, 3/1 of yarn production, 17% of weaving, 12% of energy, 10% of cement in Turkey, it has everything. What is missing is our promotion. Nobody knows where Kahramanmaraş is. We need to promote this country nationally and internationally with such projects. 2 million people from all over the world will come to the opening of EXPO 2023 and the duration of the fair is 6.5 months. To date, 24 countries have pledged to join us. We anticipate that there will be 50-60 countries until the opening.

“WE WILL MAKE KAHRAMANMARAŞ A WORLD CITY”

We need to reveal the values of our Kahramanmaraş. How are we going to do? This is what we will do with such projects. Hopefully, we will open it in our city in April 2023. So far, 24 countries have applied to join us. And we think if we can succeed. TRT has an international Children’s Festival every year on April 23. We want to organize it in Kahramanmaraş next year. These are not enough. We want to create a tourism corridor that includes Kahramanmaraş. A tourism corridor will be formed that will extend to Göbeklitepe in Şanlıurfa, Zeugma in Gaziantep, Germanicia and EXPO 2023 in Kahramanmaraş, and from there to Cappadocia in Nevşehir. Now we will introduce this country, we have no other choice. 251 thousand people came to the City Museum in Hatay, 257,000 people a year to the museum in Şanlıurfa, and 367 thousand people a year to Zeugma in Gaziantep. We also have a museum, how many people came? 6 thousand 200 people came in a year. Unfortunately we have a name. Hopefully, millions of people from both Turkey and the international arena will come to Kahramanmaraş with this project. People from other countries will meet with investors here and make joint investments. New bread doors will be opened to our people. Thus, we will make Kahramanmaraş a world city. We will become a city that is a beautiful country with its economy, tourism, nature and culture, in short, everything that is known to the world. We will no longer build pavements. We will produce such international projects and increase the added value of our city. We will change, transform, carry the brand value to higher levels.

“ONIKISUBAT IS NOW BOTH A MODEM AND A MODERN DISTRICT”

Look inside the EXPO; There are many facilities such as Butterfly and Ladybug Garden, Hobby Houses, Amusement Park-Aquapark, Cafeterias, Wedding and Wedding Halls, Conference and Congress Center. You will be able to tour the world’s largest Crystal Lagoon with an area of 70 thousand square meters by boats and water bikes. It will be the Arasta Bazaar, where the geographically marked products of our city are both promoted and sold. There will be copper works, wood carving, sandal production, handicraft products and artistic works such as theater and illumination on the upper floor. It will be a park for our disabled people and a traffic education park for our children. We are adding these equipments so that we aim to make our EXPO area permanent. Thus, the recognition of Kahramanmaraş will rise to a higher level. With these works, our Onikisubat will now be both a model and a modern district. Our municipality built roads and pavements, but municipalism is not just that. We need to change the face of our country. We need to do how to make it a much better livable, otherwise we will not be able to catch up with the future.

“WE WILL BRING 4 MILLION SQUARE METERS OF SEA TO KAHRAMANMARAŞ”

One of our vision projects is the In-Dam Water Retainer Seedde Axis Project, which we will implement in the south of our EXPO area and will put an end to Kahramanmaraş’s longing for the sea. As it is known, under the Ceyhan Bridge, the water fills the sea in winter, and when the water recedes in summer, it becomes filthy. An environmental disaster occurs in this area, flies fill up. We wanted to prevent this environmental disaster and add value to Kahramanmaraş. In the narrowest part of the canal in the south of our EXPO area, we will construct an In-Dam Water Retainer Axis. With this In-Dam Water Retainer Seedde Axle, the water will remain constant for 4 seasons and will turn this place into a sea. After building this dam, this will be a sea of 4 million square meters. Thus, our people will not have to go to distant cities of thousands of kilometers to go to the sea. Moreover, it will ensure that guests from our neighboring provinces come to this area to a large extent. With the reconstruction works we will do in this area, we will build a new and modern city with a population of 150 thousand. And this will be a lifeline for the economy of our city. We are doing all of these so that our city’s recognition and awareness will increase and it will gain brand value. All of our projects are ready, we are looking forward to putting all these works into practice and putting them at the service of our compatriots.”
